Multi-tenant gym management SaaS: a standalone Express and TypeScript API with 183 endpoints behind a 63-page Next.js app, covering members, classes, staff and billing.

Re-architected from a Next.js monolith into a separate Express and TypeScript API, with Prisma on PostgreSQL, Zod validation, NextAuth and OAuth, structured Pino logging, and Docker and nginx for deployment. Includes a six-module finance suite, a scheduling-conflict engine, a three-tier access hierarchy across nine roles, and about 48 documents with a prioritised technical-debt register.

Highlights

  • Re-architected a Next.js monolith into a standalone Express and TypeScript API with 183 endpoints, reaching a production build in 11 days and full deployment readiness in 26 days.
  • Engineered a finance suite with 6 modules and 43 endpoints, including idempotent automation that eliminates 12 manual entries per rule annually.
  • Secured the API with rate limiting of 5 logins per 15 minutes, Zod validation and OAuth, alongside a 3-tier access hierarchy across 9 roles.
  • Implemented a scheduling-conflict engine that checks 5 conflict types, preventing double-booked trainers and rooms.
  • Refactored the Next.js frontend (63 pages) with 9 shared UI components, moving 943 lines out of one page into 4 modals.
  • Documented the platform in about 48 docs (about 21K lines) with a prioritised technical-debt register.
